hey there. i'm the girl with the wings.
okay, further than that, i'm kaitlyn robins. and i am a mutant. i'm proud to be a mutant, okay? i'm really proud to be such an obvious mutant, to boot. i don't hide my mutation, got it? i am a freak and i was born this way, and all that shit. my parents have been trying to get rid of my wings since they first started to show up when i was eleven. they hate the whole mutant culture and thus they hated me. i was a disease that somehow could be cured if you threw enough money at it.
i was twelve when my mother took me to a plastic surgeon and argued with him for an hour and a half trying to get him to agree to chop off my fledgling wings. two weeks later, my dad took me to a vet to try and get my wings clipped. after that they made me wear a harness to keep them hidden. from then to the time i was fourteen, they tried four more times to get my wings removed.
after the sixth try, the headmaster at highwell paid my parents a visit. they got a talking-to and highwell was recommended. they declined and insisted that they continued to try to "cure" me. I thought that they we full of bull and ran away the next day after i got a small bag of my things together.
highwell has been great for me. there's no one telling us that we're a disease that's just waiting to be cured. we're allowed to show our true abilities and colors, which is great compared to what things were like for me at home. they didn't actually come looking for me. they let me go, which only shows that they're glad that their disgrace of a daughter isn't ruining their perfect picture anymore.
anyway. since i've been here, i've gotten a little bit more, well, outspoken and carefree. i've sort of turned into a wild hippie child, and i am perfectly okay with that.
i guess you should know a few of the things i like to do. among them are: skiing, snowboarding, flying, sprite, lollipops, ice cream, boys, roses, and books. of course there's more than that, but that's a short list. things i hate include: the anti-mutant community, squirt, the lion king (well, the part where mufasa dies, don't hate), the green hornet (worst superhero movie EVER), crepes, peanut butter, the twilight saga, and desperate flirts.
people sometimes tell me i'm a little too proud to be a mutant. like "whoop-dee-goddamn-do, for you, no one cares, kaitlyn". well, that's their opinion. i think if we're not proud of something about ourselves then we are failing at something.
